Developing relationships with corporate sponsors, and companies who might be interested in placing products in your films can be a real win / win situation.
Our first thoughts on sponsorship are usually about major companies, but companies of all sizes and types may benefit from the exposure your film might provide to them. Cities and towns, retail stores, restaurants, coffe shops, clothing, jewlery, computer, car manufacturers, and many other types of organizations may also be in a position to benefit through their association with you and your film.
And if you establish a relationship with a larger company, you will benefit through the assistance of their marketing departments, which will also look great when you begin planning your next film.
I thought it was a fun picture, but at one point I thought "man, that's exactly what I do every day."
The only difference was that I was working with clients marketing their films by pitching media outlets and prospective distributors. The process was exactly the same: present my clients' work in terms of how it could benefit the media outlet and its audience, and of course how the film would benefit the distributor.
For nearly twenty years before I promoted films exclusively, I ran an advertising agency, so I was familiar with creating marketing materials and media messages that enhanced my clients' brands.
So now, in addition to creating publicity programs and marketing films to prospective distributors, I am now offering you professional assistance in the areas of Corporate Sponsorships and Product Placements.
We'll structure a participation offer then approach the companies' marketing departments. Getting back to The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, if you saw it, you know that the companies will have a great variety of responses. What you didn't see onscreen in the film, was Morgan Spurlock's conferences with his own attorney. Under my arrangement, once you get a positive response from a company, it will be between you and your attorney to finalize your agreement with the sponsor.
I know Corporate Sponsorships and Product Placements are not for everyone, but if you take a look at the links I provided earlier, and consider the companies who are working with producers across the full spectrum of genres, and you think that one of those companies might want to work with you, then get in touch with me. We'll talk about how to go about putting together a proposal for you, and presenting it to the companies you choose.
As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
